Drum description: We consider this doumbek to be a doholla (bass doumbek).  The ceramic shell yields warm, beautiful tones and the goat skin head enhances the bass tones.  The goat skin head is fixed to the drum shell and sewn to a cotton collar, which is then tied to the drum shell.  The shell has beautiful and detailed mosaic tile inlay makes this drum a work of art.  The inlay patterns form pinwheels, snowflakes and stars.  The inlay is placed by hand and so patterns may vary slightly from drum to drum.

Mosaic Inlay: Hand made; patterns may vary slightly form drum to drum.

Customer Review:

"The drum arrived yesterday in good condition.

"Considering the cost, it is a nice hand-made folk instrument. It indeed has a deep earthy bass and a tek/ka high tone quite unlike the ones I owned. I assume this is what traditional doumbeks used to sound like until modern times when metal and plastic are used in their construction. Because it has a real goat skin head, it feels different too when I play it as I can really sense the vibration. All in all, it makes a nice addition to my collection.

"Thanks again for your help,
"Dominic"
