Description: The 4.5"  Caxixi Uma Cabaca is a single chambered, hand-woven, Brazilian, caxixi. It produces pleasing shaker sounds and works great with Berimbaus. This Caxixi is made in a traditional manner. Accordingly, the base of it is cut from a dried gourd, which gives it a bright, sharp sound. The basketry is hand woven from thin reeds making a light weight, percussion instrument. This Caxixi is perfect for playing with a Berimbau and can be used as a shaker with virtually any style of music.You can produce high pitched sounds by shaking it up and down against the gourd bottom; and you can produce softer sounds by shaking it back and forth/side-to-side. Playing two together, similar to maracas, is very effective and fun & common approach. This can be done with two Caxixis of the same or with two different sizes.
