At Artdrum.com we use the terms 'doumbek' and 'darbuka' interchangeably. Both doumbeks and darbukas are part of a larger category of drums called Goblet Drums. Darbukas (aka doumbeks or dumbeks) are a classic Middle Eastern drum. They are traditionally played by Middle Eastern percussionists for belly dancing, traditional, folk and pop music. In addition, they have become beloved by professional percussionists, recreational drummers, drum circle enthusiasts and others around the globe.
You will find
many styles of darbukas at Artdrum covering every playing level. We have darbukas with shells made of brass, aluminum, copper, ceramic, fiberglass, Austicon & more. We have Turkish, Pakistani, Egyptian and U.S. made darbukas. We have darbukas with heads made of goat skin, plastic and Remo Fiberskyn & Skyndeep heads. We also have tunable and pre-tuned darbukas; thin and wide necked darbukas; rounded and square rimmed darbukas; and small, medium and large size darbukas.Testimony
