Diagrams to show the striking areas & anatomy of Paiste gongs
The above diagram was made by Paiste to show the main striking areas of their Symphonic, Planet & Sound Creation Gongs. In addition to the striking areas show in the diagram there are other striking areas on Paiste gongs. Three such areas are the very edge of the gong (where the face & side of gong meet; the dark area around the outside of the gong face; & the back of the gong.
The very edge tends to produce a warm bass tone. The dark area around the outside of the gong face is also produces a bass tone, but tends to produce a metallic sound as well. The sounds on the backside are corresponds to sounds on the front as shown in the diagram above.
The above diagram was made by Paiste to show the anatomy of their Symphonic, Planet Sound Creation & Accent gongs. The gong on the left ("Flat Gong") gives the anatomy for the Symphonic, Planet & Sound Creation gongs ("Flat Gong"). The gong on the right ("Bossed Gong") gives the anatomy for the Accent gongs.
