The Djembe has a wide range of sounds and is in many styles of music. It is very responsive and fun to play. There are four conventional strokes, the slap, open, bass and touch. In addition, there are a variety of other hand techniques that players use, such as heel, heel-toe, thumb-toe and others. Also, slight changes in placement of the hand on the head and pressure to the head creates more options and variations.
