About Theradrum

"Take a music bath once or twice a week for a few seasons, and you will find that it is to the soul what the water-bath is to the body." ~ Oliver Wendell Holmes

Theradrum, the Company

Theradrum is the name of a registered company as well as an approach to drumming and music making.

Theradrum is the parent company of Artdrum.com. Theradrum was founded in 2001; &  Artdrum.com in 2002.  In addition to being Artdrum's parent company, Theradrum also gives drum & piano lessons, drumming workshops & school classes, including Global Percussion Classes.

Theradrum, the meaning

Theradrum refers to the virtually endless variety of drums & percussion which have the power to heal & produce great art-music.  Theradrum is captures the notion that quality drumming is not only fun, but rejuvenating and healing too.

Behind the Word

In Greek, Therapeuein, means “to cure, treat," (World Book Encyclopedia Dictionary, 1989); & therapeutikos or therapeutes mean “one ministering” (World Book Encyclopedia Dictionary, 1989).  These words form the basis of the English word Therapeutic, "having to do with the treating or curing of disease; curative...remedial, healing." (World Book Encyclopedia, 1989).

Drum, refers to a global variety of percussion instruments & rhythmic forms.

Theradrum combines all these ideas into one words.  Likewise, Theramusic and Theraart refer to any style of quality music or art that is healing.
