NOTE when using with Traditional Rims: The Tucked Heads are only about 1" tall. This means that when usingthem with Traditional Rims, the Traditional Rims sits just a little below the top of the bongo shell. If you want the Traditional Rim to sit lower [to be easier on your hands & fingers], then we recommend the Remo Crimplock R-Series Fiberskyn Head and the Evans Tri-Center Crimplock Bongo Heads are two good synthetic options and the Matador Bongo Heads is a good rawhide option. (The LP Bongo Heads also works with LP & Matador Traditional Bongo Rims & is better quality than the Matador Heads, but the Matador Heads are a little deeper/taller.)

The sound of Fiberskyn heads is a balance between the warmth of rawhide skins and the crisp tones of plastic skins.  The Fiberskyn head has a texture that is similar to, but a little smoother, than animal skin.  According to Remo, the Fiberskyn head is the most recorded synthetic head for hand drums and world percussion in the world.
