The 12" chau has a fundamental bass tone, although its sound is not as deep as the larger gongs.  It also can produce some bell-like sounds like the 10 inch chau gong, however, it has more nuances and overtones than the 10 inch chaus.  It will produce pleasing dynamics by playing simply, gently and rhythmically.  Plus, if you want to add a strong percussive feel, play with two mallets.

Circular Gong Stand: designed to hold up to a 14" gong; weighs about 4 lbs.; the feet are detachable; the hoop is a single piece.  It is easy to carry since it's small & lightweight.  The metal tubing and feet are very strong.  It is an excellent functional stand.
